BRINGING THE WORLD TO OKLAHOMA

The mission of the Oklahoma International Trade Alliance is to build wealth, foster economic development and strengthen America's national security by advocating for policies that promote global investment in Oklahoma.

PRACTICE AREAS

WHY OKLAHOMA?

STRATEGIC LOCATION

Located in the center of the United States, Oklahoma is equidistant from both coasts and features strategic access to key interstate routes between Mexico and Canada. Oklahoma is also home to four Foreign Trade Zones and America’s most inland port, providing efficient, multimodal logistics service to destinations across the globe.

COST EFFICIENCY

CNBC recently ranked Oklahoma as the state with the lowest cost of doing business, and the Oklahoma City metro boasts business costs that are 15% below the national average and considerably lower than most major coastal markets.

ABUNDANT, AFFORDABLE ELECTRICITY

Oklahoma embraces an all-of-the-above energy strategy that offers abundant affordable electricity to manufacturers and businesses, including significant amounts of available wind and hydroelectric power.

OUR VISION

THE NUMBERS THAT TELL THE STORY

  • More than 580 international companies operate in Oklahoma.

  • Those companies employ more than 64,200 Oklahomans.

  • Approximately 40% of those jobs are in manufacturing.

  • Over the past five years, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) companies have announced $3.13 billion in capital investment into communities across Oklahoma.

  • In 2022 and 2023, Oklahoma registered more than $1 billion worth of FDI announcements each year and saw project numbers double the preceding 10-year average.

  • Major sources of foreign investment in Oklahoma include Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Switzerland, Ireland, Australia, Mexico and Italy.

  • From 2016 to 2021, Oklahoma's FDI employment increased 24% while the state's overall private-sector employment remained flat. In other words, international investment is critical to the continued growth of Oklahoma's economy.
